The visual arts curriculum explores the philosophical, intellectual, and mechanical aspects of art through studio classes, art history, and excursions.  An in-depth exploration of Italian art and architecture and a studio course that provides instruction on two-dimensional work allow students to take the utmost advantage of being in Italy and offer an excellent opportunity to enhance their portfolios
Visual Arts Workshop
The objective of the workshop is to enhance and strengthen the student’s level of technical understanding.  Exercises in perspective, figure drawing, gesture, value, and color are used to further develop these skills.  Students are encouraged to take risks, to experiment with new media, and to incorporate new subject matter in order to develop a stronger portfolio. 
Visual Arts Seminar
This intensive three-hour studio period allows students to work on projects, pursue their specialized interests, and receive individual instruction.  The magical Umbrian landscape provides a superb environment for visual exploration.  The course focuses on 2-dimensial works and student have access to many different media, including graphite pencil, color pencil, pen and ink, charcoal, watercolor, tempera paint, oil crayon, and conte.  A required course for all visual arts students; meets in the afternoon.
