Student Life

   
Facilities and Accomodations
All students live together in a European collegial style at the Convento di Sant’Angelo, a gorgeous fifteenth century convent in the medieval section of Spoleto.  The convent has been beautifully renovated with modern conveniences and has spacious courtyards and colorful gardens.  It is only a short walk from the convent to classes, the main piazzas of town and the restaurants where meals are eaten as a group.  Students are supervised by faculty, staff and interns who live at the convent with the students. Classes take place in beautiful
buildings throughout the historic medieval section of town with abundant, luminous spaces for visual art,  voice and dance classes.

 
Meals
Italy is known for its cuisine, and the province of Umbria lives up to even the highest expectations.  Breakfast is served each day in the courtyard of the Convento; lunch and dinner are provided by family-run restaurants in town with menus highlighting the local Umbrian cuisine
Daily Schedule
Classes are scheduled four days a week and follow a typical Italian pace of life:
8:00am Breakfast
9:00am-1:00pm Classes
1:15pm Lunch
2:30pm-5:00pm Free time/applied lessons
  5:00pm Studio workshops and rehearsals
  8:00pm Dinner
 
Extra Opportunities and Activities
Throughout the session, the faculty team plans interdisciplinary units of study that are enriched by twice weekly excursions to such cultural
centers as Rome, Urbino, Florence, Siena, Assisi and other medieval hill towns throughout Umbria and Tuscany.  Recreational activities are planned throughout the session.  The city also offers facilities for swimming, soccer, and basketball.

Medical Care
SPOLETO STUDY ABROAD is affiliated with a medical staff that is available to see students who require care.  Students needing emergency attention are taken to the closest hospital.
